Brad Marchand knows a thing or two about trolling other players and fan bases and he was up to it again on Tuesday morning with a response to a tweet from the NHL PR account in regards to Mitch Marner’s outstanding season.

A lot of fans probably saw this as Marchand showing respect to Marner with a compliment, but it looks more like some expert-level trolling rather than a compliment. Following the Maple Leafs’ practice on Tuesday, Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner, John Tavares and Nazem Kadri were asked about Marchand’s latest tweet about Marner and they didn’t seem too bothered by it.

Tavares on Marchand: 'That's his personality, it realistically has no effect on anything'

They all pretty much laughed off the whole thing as they know exactly what type of player Marchand is both on and off the ice.

John Tavares: “Well, that’s Marchy’s kind of personality. I mean, realistically, its really got no effect on anything.”

“Knowing Brad a little bit through my times playing with him, that’s a little bit of his personality. He likes to mix it up, I think certainly in his play, but, like I said, it’s really nothing you worry about. It’s something you chuckle at and just move forward.”

Auston Matthews: “As far as the tweet, I mean, it’s pretty funny. I’m sure, like you said, kind of half of half there with stirring the pot and a lot of truth behind it.”

Nazem Kadri: “It’s just him being him and he likes to make those controversial comments, but it is what it is. I think he appreciates the talent Mitch has and so do a lot of people.”

This isn’t the first time Marchand has done something like this on Twitter involving the Maple Leafs as he chimed in last season when Auston Matthews was still looking for a new deal.

The Maple Leafs and the Bruins don’t meet any more times during the regular season, but there’s a good chance they’ll see each other in the first round of the playoffs.
