Marc-Andre Fleury is returning to the place his NHL career started on Tuesday night, only he’ll be in the visitor’s net at PPG Paints Arena for the first time in his 14-year career.
The Vegas Golden Knights are in Pittsburgh for the first time in franchise history and it’s bound to be an emotional night as Fleury is making his first return to the Penguins’ arena since he was claimed by Vegas in last summer’s Expansion Draft.
Since it’s Fleury’s first time back in Pittsburgh since last season, he had a nice little gift waiting for him when he arrived.
Fleury was greeted by Penguins legend and co-owner Mario Lemieux, head coach Mike Sullivan, president David Morehouse and general manager Jim Rutherford upon his arrival early Tuesday morning and he received his 2017 Stanley Cup champion ring.
Since Fleury spent the first 13 years of his NHL career with the Penguins, you can bet he had some old friends to catch up with once he got to the arena.
Fleury played against the Penguins for the first time in his career earlier this season and led the Golden Knights to a 2-1 victory in Las Vegas.
