Realistically, almost every sport can be summed up as a game of bounces. Often, you’ll hear it about hockey and soccer because of their lower scoring nature. The fewer goals you need to win, the more likely a fluky shot is to be a difference maker.
Look no further than this penalty shoe in a German rec league soccer game.
Basically the one thing you have to do as the kicker on a penalty is hit the net. It’s unlikely that the goalie will stop it anyways, but this guy didn’t even have to do that.
It’s tough to feel bad for the keeper either though, because he made a pitiful attempt at stopping the ball at all. Still, we don’t think you can blame him. Sometimes that’s just the way the cookie crumbles. The ball bounces when the ball wants and we’ve seen much worse situations for goalkeepers than we did in this one.
For example, at least he wasn’t celebrating already.
